Tangible Kingdom Discussion Report

Don’t you just love it when an event goes REALLY WELL! That’s how we feel about the Tangible Kingdom Discussion that took place at the Delaware GBC May 17th. Hugh Halter, co-author of the book The Tangible Kingdom, flew in from Denver to share his experiences and insights he has gained through church planting. (For event pictures, CLICK HERE.)

By his own admission Hugh has a passion and gift for reaching those who are Sojourners––those who are “temporary, spiritually curious but disoriented God seekers.” He challenged us to be missional people, “individuals committed to forming their character and lifestyle after those of Christ and who are compelled to live out their faith in the context of a community.”

Fifty one men and women participated in the discussion. They agreed that overall, the Tangible Kingdom Discussion was Above Average (48%) or Excellent (52%); no one said the day was average, fair or poor. That’s a pretty good day! 71% said the content was Excellent and the remaining 24% said it was Above Average.

You can CLICK HERE and be taken to our web page where we are posting the comments we receive about the Discussion. Here are a few samples:

  • Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this seminar. I enjoy being challenged and stretched to think in new ways and in new terms. Hugh gave me a lot of great things to think about. I’m glad I came.
  • I really respected Hugh’s insight into evangelism. I was encouraged to become a better friend to my community of believers and unbelievers.
  • The presentation challenged my thinking about what it means to be church and to be in the world. I’m still processing the impact it may have on my life and ministry. It inspired me to read the book, and I’ve nearly finished it already. Also, good interaction with the others from our church.
  • Hugh’s experience tied right in to where we are as church leaders.
Needless to say, the resources invested in this experience by VisionOhio and MissioChurch was well worth it. In the future we would like to bring other resourceful church leaders to our context of church planters and church reformers here in Ohio. If you have any suggestions for us, please shoot us an email (info@visionohio.org). We would love to hear from you.
